Herringbone Dining Table and Bench Seat, 2019, American Walnut and Birchwood Ply (sub-straight). Dining Table - 210 cm x 110 cm x 77 cm Bench seat - 180 cm x 40 cm x 52 cm The client wanted to commission a piece that was grounded by the classic refectory table design whilst showing some contemporary flair. With a young family, the client wanted a dining table and bench seat that they, and extended family, could all sit around for many years to come. The dining table and matching bench seat are made from 5mm thick American Walnut laminations applied to a 25mm Birchwood Ply (sub-straight in a herringbone pattern. The American Walnut theme carries throughout the residence - complementing existing pieces throughout the home. Whilst embracing the classic refectory construction method, the contemporary tapered leg design grounds the pieces by reducing their visual weight, whilst ensuring optimal strength in the joints where required. Built-in joinery - Under Stair Bookcase, 2018, Victorian Ash and 2 pac painted MDF. The client was after a shelving and storage solution for a difficult to use space in their new townhouse. The Under Stair Bookcase is made from Victorian Ash and 2 pac painted MDF. The Victorian Ash was chosen to match the existing staircase - with the bookshelves and bench top for the storage area designed to ensure light flow through the space. The client was after a design that would make it feel as if the joinery was always intended for the location. The unit includes four large drawers to maximise storage on soft close runners, and the 2 pac painted MDF match existing kitchen details. Kennel, 2017, Birchwood Ply and aluminium 110.00 cm x 110.00 cm x 80.00 cm This architecturally inspired dog kennel features one bedroom, one cantilevered covered deck for sun-baking and a hinged lid for easy access to the inside. The kennel is made from 25mm Birchwood Ply and uses a steel piano hinge and a custom made aluminium ridge cap for weather protection. The kennel is coated in Ozmo UV protected exterior grade oil to withstand the outside elements. As you can see, the client is very happy with the finished result.
